My law practice is currently limited to real estate, estate planning, probate and commercial matters and was developed on a foundation of 38 years of legal and real estate experience in the office and the courtroom. My personal business background includes serving as a bank director for fifteen years, syndicating commercial properties and owning and managing commercial office buildings and residential apartments. I represent both individual and commercial clients, drawing most by referral from other clients. We currently represent the City of Falls Church in real estate transactions and handle real estate loans for Burke & Herbert Bank.
The firm has been located in the City of Falls Church for thirty-nine years and at the present location for the past twenty-five years. We utilize state-of-the-art technology and have a direct connection to the land records in Fairfax and Arlington Counties. This enables us to provide prompt, effective services at a fair price and also enables us to access the land records in those counties in minutes instead of hours or days.
The main focus of my practice is the preparation of real estate contracts and real estate settlements. To date, I have personally handled over 23,000 residential and commercial real estate settlements. My staff have been with me for many years and all have spent their entire careers in title examination, underwriting title insurance and processing settlements. We are not a high volume, assembly line firm but handle each case on a individual and personal basis. Unlike most settlement agents, we perform our own title examinations which results in a quick and consistently accurate product at less cost to the consumer.
Settlements are handled personally by me, not a clerk, and the legal implications of all doumentation involved are reviewed and explained. You will also have an opportunity to have your legal questions answered from a background of experience during the time we are processing your case and after the settlement .
Two areas of my real estate practice that are expanding are processing tax deferred exchanges under Section 1031 of the IRS Code through a qualified intermediary and representing buyers and sellers who are acting without real estate agents from the preparation of a sales contract, arranging financing and completing settlement. You will find useful information on both of these subjects in this web site.
My practice also includes the preparation of wills, revocable living trusts, and probate matters including probate litigation.
The remainder of my practice is focused on business and commercial matters including the formation and continued oversight of corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships.
